Safe Sex on the Beach

Cranberry, orange, peach — all the fruit of the original Sex on the Beach without the vodka or peach schnapps. Layered for visual drama, stirred for balance.
Ingredients
- 2 oz Cranberry Juice
- 2 oz Fresh Orange Juice
- 1 oz Peach Puree
- 1/4 oz Grenadine
Method
Fill a highball with ice. Add cranberry juice, orange juice, and peach puree. Stir. Slowly pour grenadine down the inside of the glass for a layered effect. Garnish with an orange slice and maraschino cherry.
Non-alcoholic adaptation of Sex on the Beach (IBA Contemporary Classics list; origins disputed—bartender Ted Pizio popularized the name via 1987 Fort Lauderdale spring break marketing, but an earlier recipe appears in the 1982 American Bartenders School Guide to Drinks, making the true creator unknown). Safe Sex on the Beach replaces the vodka and peach schnapps with non-alcoholic alternatives, preserving cranberry and orange juice.
