Virgin Moscow Mule

Mule, vodka optional

Glass Copper mug
Method Built
Garnish Lime Wheel

Spicy ginger beer and fresh lime in the mule's signature copper mug. All the bite of the original — the ginger and lime do most of the work anyway.

Ingredients

Method

Fill a copper mug with ice. Add lime juice. Top with ginger beer. Stir gently. Garnish with a lime wheel.

Non-alcoholic adaptation of the Moscow Mule, originally created in 1941 by John G. Martin (Heublein Inc./Smirnoff), Jack Morgan (Cock 'n' Bull owner), and bartender Wes Price. Rudolph Kunett (Heublein executive) facilitated the collaboration. The virgin version preserves the ginger beer and fresh lime juice core while omitting vodka. Notes: Not a historical drink — a modern non-alcoholic adaptation. No single documented origin for the mocktail variant itself; the classic Moscow Mule recipe remains the authoritative reference. Per IBA (Contemporary Classics list); no NA version listed on IBA.
